JEWISH HERITAGE TOUR of ISTANBUL

A FULL DAY ISTANBUL JEWISH HERITAGE TOUR 


You will be met by your private guide at the lobby of your hotel at 9 am for your Private Sightseeing Tour of Istanbul.

You will visit the Galata Tower which was built in 1303 by immigrants from Genoa, Italy. While sipping your Turkish coffee, you will be amazed with the spectacular view of the Golden Horn and the old buildings located on its shores.

Next, you will visit the oldest Synagogue in Istanbul- the Ahrida Synagogue, built around 1470 by Jewish immigrants from Macedonia.

You will then visit the Ashkenazi Synagogue founded by Jews of Austrian origin in 1900.  It is also the last remaining synagogue from a total of three built by Ashkenazim, as the population of Ashkenazi Jews accounts for 4 percent of the total Jewish population of Turkey.

Lunch will be served at one of UTS’s recommended local/select restaurants close to the sights..

 Next, you will visit the Neve Shalom Synagogue.

 After that, drive to Jewish Museum of Turkey, There is evidence that this synagogue existed in 1671. However the actual building was re-erected over its original foundations presumably in the early 19th Century.  Zulfaris Synagogue has opened its doors as a museum in 2001. Continue to the Balat section where the Star of David appears.

At the end of the tour, you will be escorted to your hotel by 5 pm.
